what are some games you recently played that are considered "old"? ideally games that were released over 5-10+ years ago
also a thread talking about how older games did things better because they were considered "complete" upon release and didn't rely on exploiting customers
i have almost 2000 hours (plus probably another 1000 hours off the record from when i was a kid and had a pirated copy) in counter strike source, i've been playing old school runescape for the last few months, i've started a playthrough of rollecoaster tycoon 2 (via openrct2) and might start a playthrough of Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe and other city sim style games on my new laptop, and have an urge to play through Doom 1/2 and play some community WADs
i also want to try and get into more older pc games since i've avoided playing them because i had such a fix on only retro nintendo games for years
imo a lot of games these days are focusing too much on looking stupidly pretty and selling skins, i'm tired of every game having a battle pass, skins to buy, and a focus on competitive play/becoming an esport or something. i get that indie games are basically still doing the things that older games used to do, so it's not a dead practice to release a finished game, but i miss when high profile publishers actually released a finished product because they had to due to a lack of constant internet connections.
