starcraft, age of empires, warcraft, i dunno what yall play these days, this is a thread about strategy games and shit
i played my first two ranked AOE2 games last night and it went about as I would've expected
first game the guy resigned immediately and i got like 48 ELO from it and it boosted me up above 1000 ELO, which I didn't want because I wanted to lower my ELO so I actually stood a chance lol
second game (so, first real game) went pretty okay, the other guy pretty much was sprinting out the gate, but he didn't like absolutely steamroll me and end it quick, was actually really nice. it was an arena game, so no early-game rushes, but he dropped a castle at my gate and rolled up with like 20 scorpions and a bunch of elephants. i was playing the somewhat newer armenian civ, i had played it once before against AI players, but that's not suitable for learning very well lmao. i tried pushing back while holding on for dear life in a pocket on the side of my original base, massing up some warrior priests, but they weren't anything to the scorpions and other stuff
i called the gg and looked at the map after resigning and holy shit this guy was stuffing the map with towers and building everywhere near my base, so even if i took out the castle, I'd have like another 5 to go lmao
