Your art is exceptionally pleasing and sensory and full of character which is like really important ... like you're always keeping in mind the emotional dynamic which is such a core part of the appeal of so many of the kinks you draw ... you really obviously put effort into your dialogue and it makes me really happy

also couverte is like such a good design like i genuinely think about him so often... the yellow and purple palette, the mask, the sad cute emo boy style in general...

OMGOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH AWAAAAA!!!! You have no idea how much that means to me! ;w; You just complimented all the little things I strive and struggle for that most people simply never notice. When that happens it feels so amazing, I can't even tell you.

I think it helps that I tend to draw within my own interests or adjacent fascinations. :3 ADHD+Autism combo gives the curses and powers of hyper fixation. Too bad that also makes me awful at the business side of things.

And gosh I am so happy you think that of Couverte! I was truly inspired that night I doodled him the first time. He's my personal favorite of my male OCs, and so of course he has the (arguably) most tragic backstory. I knew I hit something with him when only a couple weeks later I saw a much more popular adoptable-factory type artist selling an adoptable Jolteon girl who looked suspiciously like him, complete with a little mask. None of the personality though, those people tend to be hacks.

my favorite thing artists do [especially trans artists who Get It] is give their horny work undertones that mean something to those who understand the familiar feeling... this specific puppy piece is something i've experienced before aand it's kind of fun if a bit scary after the mania dissssipates, and the hypernesss n wonderful faces you do really makes it
it's like the work of april greiman where her sexuality meshes with her work [specifically referencing her 'Does it Make Sense' piece for design quarterly] which was really evocative at the time since it was one of the first pieces of graphic design work not sponsored by a company or big firm that was made w/ consumer level PCs.

Since the above is my fursona, and I made her to resemble me as closely as possible, I wanted some kind of stand in for that cognitive dissonance. So even on her ref sheet, the ghost of the pent hyper cock is there. haha

It's really not often that the little details and deeper, personal meanings of my work are appreciated and I am thoroughly flattered. Not to mention ecstatic that people still notice in our age of stream-and-feed internet. :3

i'm always looking at the little details, i love understanding why things are the way they are, especially in art. there can be so much there that artists put in that go unnoticed by people who don't get it or don't want to get it. art is a form of self expression and putting the you, or parts of you in your works is an incredible thing you can do, even if it's not a piece of you or your sona, they can be vessels to share your experience with the world to everyone.
that's what art, and the blessing of creation, is all about.

it's like courbet's work during the french realist period where—unlike what critics at the time believed—the symbolism was right in front of them, just in a different way that is unrecognizable except to those who experience it. and perhaps not even recognizable to them, but they feel something familiar about it.

courbet's the stone breakers is significant in this idea, where it depicts two men doing hard labor, breaking stone. coming directly off of the romantic period where there was a big focus on theatrics and symbolism that was well within society's cultural zeitgeist, along with the use of lavish and color-heavy compositions that can be busy and are meant to be evocative, stir an emotion. goya and gericault come to mind. you'd have a big focus on criticizing nationalism, militarism, colonialism, paintings and works that use academic tradition to further the influence of the church and christianity, manifest destiny, things that are out of the control of the common people. gericault's raft of the medusa is an example of this.

but for courbet's piece, as a vital part in the realist period, it shows what the world is actually like, during the 1850s, for the common person. in fact, it literally depicts two working class laborers that keep the world running—something that was considered provocative at the time, especially in the academy which are the people that controlled what art is considered "good" or "bad".

the symbolism in this was strong, completely against anything at the time. it is godless, the figures are unidentifiable, nameless, faceless. their clothes are imperfect and their hands are covered in dirt and dust. the colors are desaturated, made to look as if things are fading. yet, this is real, this is what the real world looks like. when it was shown in the paris salon of 1850, it was met with incredible outrage due to how striking of a picture it reveals to the people in charge. to the people who are so separated from the reality of the situation they are causing. these people have to work + survive these conditions bc that's just the way it is.

plus, there's no naked women in it. how can they possibly like this.

anyway, without this work, people would not have had as easy of a time allowing themselves to depict what things are actually like in the world—their own experiences and what they feel living in it. their mindscapes are important perspectives that can touch other peoples' and inspire them to continue something, or do something new, or continue feeling as they have, but learning something from it. without art we would probably have died to giant tigers a long time ago. art is community, whatever it may be.
