I encourage anyone to use this title for any other thing that they may want to bring up.
Also just in case its not clear this is just a discussion, no hard feelings.

So hyper category is usually defined are ridiculously large endowment of characters, mostly in the furry fandom.
I'm personally not the biggest fan of hyper. I can understand it but at the same time I just feel like theres too much of it. I guess if I had to contextualize it. At the point where a character's endowments are as large as there own body is generally where I'm like 'this isn't even erotic anymore, and that's kinda the whole reason i'm here'

I like to use hyper sparingly.

I also base my anatomy on more believable proportions. They are still exaggerated, but only to a minute degree. So to me hyper can include something that most would consider average, now.

Which brings me to my own personal irk with the proliferation of hyper anatomy. Modern furries have been entirely spoiled on it.

Especially considering the inherent body dysphoria and self esteem issues first-world Anglophonic culture creates, the over-saturation of hyper and extro-hyper anatomy in furry (and Anime-styled futa) art has compounded people's already damaged perceptions of what a nice, good sized cock really looks like.

Sometimes I will receive comments on some of my works like, "aww, he has a cute little cock", when the dude is sporting a 7 incher. Which, is not small.

Then I will post a character of mine who HAS a hyper cock, by my reckoning. One the size of their own arm, and sometimes get a reaction such as, "this isn't hyper."

This is a problem, honestly. As it actually does have real-world consequences. I already mentioned the body image problems the first world has. I notoriously accept dick pics from my fans, and I have seen a loooooooot. SO often I get the, "are you sure, it's really small, you'll be disappointed" lead-in. Only to be greeted with a thicc juicy hog. Sure, maybe not the length of a highway, but goddamn, puppy WANT.

They don't know their own value. ;w;

I enjoy hyper as a fetish, and I like using it as a character feature, but as with all things- moderation is key.

Bold policy to adopt, but I would generally agree with your comments. I imagine many of us grew up on exaggerated looney tune-eqse proportions so some of the hyper is kinda normalized to an extent, I just wish there was more small penis worship (or even just average size penis worship) rather than horse dicks bigger than literal horses

I adore small cock too. <3 In fact one of my core vibes is all about positivity about male anatomy. Which, while there are certainly prevailing issues with misogyny left to address and I do not at all aim to dismiss them, I do feel like a depressingly large amount of cis-men feel hideous. Like they can't be attractive. Like men are inherently ugly, goofy, and unlovable.

That's so sad to me.

You may find this interesting but there was a time where the opposite was true.

In ancient greece( and I believe through the renaissance), It was the male form that society thought was most beautiful. Which is why there are some many statues and painting of men.

Also also at the time having a smaller penis was considering civilized and noble, and larger penises were considered barbaric and savage.

I actually am aware, it's something I have referenced too. kehe

Unfortunately they put women down then. I would very much like for a time where all forms are explored for their beauty.

this is actually so unbelievably true. i've seen hyper become normalized and ubiquitous like water, even in more vanilla furry art. which is cool, in a very specific way. like it's interesting to see how culture shifts from being more tactile and physical and grounded, towards a more fantastical, symbolic, exaggerated way.

► Show Spoiler : big ramblings from a bunny about art

that being said though, i'm very much the opposite of puppy. i love hyper to death.
i will create and think about hyper all the damn time. i think a ton about the physicality, the presence, the logistics, the day-to-day, basically everything. the current project i'm rattling around in my head is a worldbuilding project where the world is dominated by bigness and excess and sex is normal like, i guess the best example is like eating outside. sex outside. etc.
but anyway, i love hyper for what it is. simply being big.

i have some pretty insane brain worms about this. the whole "too much" aspect is exactly why i like it. it's excessive and extreme. monstrous. that's so fucking awesome. bonus points if the features are grotesque. like a cock looks muscular or has tree root veins. or tits are super veiny and the nipples look like ponuts. and bumpy nipples. ough. etc. you get the point.
it's also pretty cartoony. it's what i love about the fact that this is fiction. cartoony stuff is erotic to me. excess in general is erotic. hedonism is erotic.

for me at least, there are so many fetishes i think about so deeply they become psychosexual.
but, i'm always open to all other sizes, i just think it's fun to think about :owo: like i love all body types so much i give them each a place in my mythos.

I absolutely fall into the 2000's furries, with influence from the 90's artists before me.

Stands to reason, I am from the older half of the Millennial generation. Which seems to be the last generation defined by a full 20 year period? By all rights Gen Alpha should only JUST be beginning, but that's another discussion entirely.

I digress, the 00's were my late teenaged and early twenties time. My tastes and cultural concept of furry are still heavily anchored in that window of era.

Some pretty enormous evidence of this is how much I invest in my own original ideas instead of marketing endless trend fan art to win capitalism. If I make fan art, it's because I am a fan. Not for clout.

Furry was still very much a niche counter-culture in my time, too. So the mainstream (normie) sensibilities it has begun to adopt en masse have been... invasive to us grey muzzles, on a not so frivolous level.

I don't know that I'd strictly consider you my opposite though, I still enjoy hyper- just in moderation. I think the only thing I go overboard on is the manifest of cock itself. kehe

exactly, see! you get it so much. it will never not drive me up a wall when i see people or have conversations with artists who make stuff pretty much exclusively motivated to market or appeal to people. especially as young artists. like dude what are you doing !!! it can just be for your friends, is your fun tied to how many people like your stuff! crazy. i've always been a person who does this for fun, the other stuff just doesn't compute with me.
but i'll keep that in the pocket for now. in regards to how furry culture is shifting, it's ah. it's tricky. because one it's good that there's people finding communities within the broader community but on the other hand it's like, the throes of commodification. you see this now with all those actual furry merch stores. not just like artists selling things of their own but like, companies made specifically to market to furries. it's scary. esp when i have friends that saw firsthand the way how mismanaged those companies are. augh.

:owo: anyway! i'm keeping this topic in the pocket for real this time. this is fetish talks.

maybe opposite was the wrong word. i mostly meant that i'm incredibly gluttonous when it comes to hyper. so to speak. while you like it in moderation, i'm like going the whole hog always thinking about it. all the effects, the physiology, the mentalities, the specific kinds of complexes people can get from them, specific silly scenarios that me n my gf think up, what happens if they get bigger/smaller, the daily lives of furs that are hyper vs ones that want to be hyper, companies that supply these demands, the different kinds of shapes! the smells! ohgh the smells. the sounds too. i keep thinking, though more like wishing, i'll have the time to animate someone so hyper that their bits are constantly making noise like a hungry stomach. i'm insane about it.

i don't think about it all the time though! hyperness shares my brainspace along with a myriad of other fetishes. but that and growth which are inherently linked are definitely my top two of all time. they're kinda like the meat and all other stuff can be added as seasoning and plating. :uwu:
