last year i had a personal goal to watch 100 movies i had never seen before. it was REALLY fun and made me appreciate movies more than I already did. here are some of my favorite ones i watched last year in case you want a movie recommendation.

Image
vivarium - fun psychological horror movie about being trapped in suburbia

Image
sorcerer - incredibly stressful thriller about transporting dangerous cargo through the jungle

Image
isle of dogs - stop motion animated movie by the same director as fantastic mr.fox about an island full of dogs

Image
beau is afraid - the less you know about this movie going in the better i think

Image
slc punk - great character drama about young punks in salt lake city, utah

Image
punch drunk love - a rare adam sandler performance that isnt a comedy and is actually very good

Image
martin - non conventional vampire movie directed by george romero of black ops zombies fame

I've seen Isle of Dogs like 4 times since it came out lol great movie

I've been on a bit of a "early MCU" spree, realized I never watched Iron Man 1 and 2 since I didn't get into the Marvel movies until Thor/Captain America and skipped straight to Avengers 1 when it came out. Watched them recently and both are pretty good movies, I can see why they banked hard on the idea of the cinematic universe after Iron Man. The VFX of the more mechanical Iron Man suits still holds up nearly 20 years later.

I'd like to see more Ghibli movies, I think I have most of them downloaded but haven't taken the time to watch many of them or recall much of the ones I had seen as a kid (granted that's how it is for a lot of the "must watch" movies I've "seen" when I was a kid like the Matrix, LOTR, etc. Gotta rewatch them as an adult to actually grasp what happens.)

I’m generally not a movie watching type person but there are some good comedies I like to recommend:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a classic funny movie
The Princess Bride is quite beloved
Space Balls has some great jokes if you’ve seen Star Wars
Kung Pow is in part terrible and the greatest ever so…
Team America: World Police is good and makes fun of the USA
Bruce Almighty is peak Jim Carey imo
Tenacious D is peak Jack Black imo

These are the older movies that people probably haven’t mention in the last decade but they’re still great

This is one of my favorites. Fantastic wushu movie with some serious style to help tell the story, set in one of the most important periods of Chinese history.

My favorite movie is still Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

I am very fond of the golden age comedies. Naked Gun, Airplane, etc.

I was a really big fan of the Rocky movies until recently. I find it unfortunately difficult to look at Sly after he endorsed the orange...

Time Bandits - a silly movie that has great practical effects and is a lot of fun
Cube, Cube 2: Hypercube, and Cube Zero - Great trilogy of horror movies that are completely different from each other but good for different reasons
Cabin in the Woods - Comedy horror with lots of good visuals
Deadpool and Wolverine - The only mainstream movie I've watched in a long time but it was VERY good
