[READ ME] Making new threads on art boards

#25

Post by furf »

This forum is primarily for posting and sharing artwork. As such, there's a handful of guidelines and hard rules on how your topics should be made.
Here's a nice collection of "do's" and "don'ts" as well as suggestions for certain situations.

Remember to check the Rules for determining whether to make your thread in the respective Creative Corner sections or in the Sharing Center sections.

  • Do:

    • Make a personal thread as a collection for posting your work and add onto it/reply to it whenever you have something new to share

    • Make a personal thread as a collection for a project you want to show separately from your other threads (think of this like having "Pools" on other sites for comics, commission works, specific things you draw frequently enough to justify having its own thread)

    • Make an open thread for anyone to post artwork fitting a theme ("redraw" challenges, "old art vs new art", threads dedicated to specific characters/kinks)

  • Don't:

    • Make a new thread for every image you wish to share

    • Make a thread for reposting the artwork of another forum user without their permission

    • Make threads for general conversation in artwork boards (or vice versa; keep threads on topic with their sections please)

    • Make threads specifically for advertising your paysites, commissions, auctions, etc. inside the art boards. Keep those in the Promotions section.

It is highly recommended to specify if your thread is "Open" for others to post work inside of the thread. This can be done using the Image Topic Icon at the top of the "Post a New Topic" editor page or putting "[Open]" in the topic name.

Threads in the main Creative Corner sections are automatically treated as "personal" unless otherwise specified, and therefore anyone (other than whoever the original poster specifies) found posting works in personal threads will have their posts removed from that thread and warned.
Threads in the Sharing Center sections are the opposite and are automatically treated as "open" unless otherwise specified by the topic creator.
