Ramble about it
I'm currently in one of my phases of being absolutely consumed by Alive 2007 by Daft Punk. God its just so good and cool. They pioneered modern electronic music concerts AND delivered probably the best electronic live album of all time. The energy and danceability of it is so infectious it just brings a smile to my face and gets me dancing every time I put it on. And its such a feast of music for people who are familiar with their entire discog.
The one good thing about DP breaking up in 2021 was we got a lot of never before seen HQ footage of it being performed. It had previously been relegated to shaky low quality 2006 phone and handicam footage so seeing it in a resolution thats actually discernible is so cool.
Not to mention the amount of hardware and software that was leveraged for it. They were running synths, midi controllers, touchscreens and running it all on custom built super computers. God I just love this album and show so much. So sad I'll never get to see them live :-(

Mushrooms, but not so much as a thing for like study or as a major ingredient or even the drug, but as decor for my room.
They're just super cozy themed. There's a diffused white mushroom lamp at work that I wanna get, there's a bunch of little wooden mushrooms to place in different places, I've already got mushroom garlands and a mushroom wallscroll above my desk.
I think it's less specifically mushrooms and more like just rustic old stuff as decor, but mushrooms tend to be in my sights more often than not.

Tabletop miniatures.
I'm a fiend for the fucking things. I cannot put into words how obsessed I am with them at all times.
Ive been categorizing and studying and filing away minis and mini companies for decades. I'm not GREAT at painting them, but I've gotten to a point where I can stretch basic techniques to the point they look pretty good and impress the uninitated/my friends at the table. I've only gotten easy access to them in recent years so my pile of shame is thankfully pretty small atm, but its growing steadily and I really need to get to work on them.

M-rooms are cute.

my current fixation has been listening to music in Weird And Old Ways™
first thing i got was a cassette deck, which sounds really fuckin nice, and i've been collecting a lot of my music from bandcamp releases. though i also know how to record music onto cassette too, and i've gone so far as to create my own j-cards to put into blank cassette cases, along with printing my own labels for them!
here's just an example of that :p
next i got into minidiscs, because minidiscs are nice i think! it's a format that didn't really do well in america, but in europe and especially japan it did pretty well! in fact it's done so well in japan, that to this day, they are still making brand new minidiscs you can buy! pretty impressive for a format that's over 30 years old, i think. because of that, there's also been bandcamp releases on brand new minidiscs, and they look sick. i of course also record my own stuff onto there, using a netMD minidisc recorder!
and finally i've recently gotten into ipods! right now i got two, one of which is borked but can be repaired, but the other one is my main ipod i use pretty much daily! it's a modded out ipod that runs rockbox, in which i went so far as to make my own python software to transcode all my music to OGG (just to save space) and transfer it all to my ipod! running it with rockbox makes it so i don't ever have to touch the cursed software that is itunes... outside of when i need to restore the ipods after flash modding it, but such is life lol

Currently in my Resident Evil era, again, for the 50th time in my life. I flip flop between various horror games and currently I'm specifically obsessed with two things: Resident Evil Resistance, a mostly dead multiplayer game that could have been so good if it had gotten any proper support; and how it seems like the majority of modern Resident Evil games ever since 4 have basically gone "a Wizard did it", with arguably the only major exception being 5 instead going with a Eugenicist Geralt of Rivia but we don't talk about 5 as a general rule.

Oo, what minis? I've been working on my Seraphon/Lizardmen and various Kill Teams for the Warhammer side of things but have also been getting into Battletech and Turnip28....

I've got some Midlam Miniatures orcs (bought from Mega Minis ((Originally produced by Metal Magic))) that I have to finish up, some em4 dwarves I want to start but haven't found the mood for, a collection of weird little random guys from a bunch of different sources for Dark Sun gaming that I amassed through a year of pain-in-the-ass research (the game didn't pan out but I love the setting so I'll get some use out of them), a bunch of different stargrave sprues I got to hopefully make Starfox minis with the albedo 'critter conversion kit' heads from Sally4th, and I'm working on some Dunmer made from frostgrave cultists + ghost archipelago crewmen + perry afghans + mantic elves (though the last is mostly for bits, they kind of suck to work with.) The dunmer project is a big one, been pouring through different stores for years looking for models to go with it. Seen more than a few be lost to time, but 3d printing had been a boon for it.
Those are just the current projects anyways! I might make a little The Old World army with Fimir as beastmen or if James Workshop rereleases the cool factions. I'm a lot bigger on their old stuff, its nice to see the models again!
Here's my orcs though! May make an actual thread to post some mini stuff sometime.

Those rule! Definitely way farther along than any of my projects lmao, I'm about to build and magnetize (the bottoms of, not the arms, I would rather die) 15 skinks to finish off my 60 skink strong Southlands army for Old World today even :3 I intend to paint all my lizardmen in various pride flag colors and the skinks specifically will be Progress

Thanks!!
I can't blame you for not wanting to magnetize the arms. I'd love to do that with some kind of mech minis for a customization themed gama alla-armored core, but I'm not sure what system that'd be good for...
I always liked lizardmen best back in the day. They were prohibitively expensive then (I was 14) and they remain so (I'm cheap now).
Hope they'll bring back the vamps!

God I've been wanting to get into cassette tapes again. I've been looking at players on ebay, particularly this one Panasonic one that looks neat. I also have a recent obsession with floppy disks, I want to buy a bulk lot of them off ebay and see what's on them, then save anything neat and format them to use for little things. I think floppy disks and cassettes are like the ultimate tech fidgeting things, they both have the satisfying clicking sounds and feelings that aren't there with solid-state storage and digital media.

woag this chat really exploded let me look through all these. . .
a classic and necessary hyperfixation! always thought the ppl who go super hard into these are really cool, its a cool unification of gaming and art you don't see as a main part of the experience that often

where would you recommend a newcomer start? never played a RE game in my life but its always been on my list. I'm assuming the first one but idk where people land on the OG vs remaster debate on that one
