My Immortal is such a classic staple of fanfiction. I didn't get to experience much fandom space until around high school sadly, aside from my obsessive ventures in Mario Fan Games Galaxy when I was in elementary to middle school. My only real exposure to fanfiction in high school even then was a few MLP fics (namely the big ones like My Little Dashie and Fallout Equestria, and even then I didn't read all that much of FE) as most of my interest was in things like wallpapers and fangames.
I should probably look into some more fics outside of the occasional short smutfic that piques my interest.
