...mobile games...

I know mobile games generally have a lot of bad qualities, shovelware, microtransactions, ads, gacha etc. but I still like a few and I and tons of free time at work so I always am on the look out for good ones.

Plants vs Zombies is a really great tower defense(?) game with nice music, a really good difficulty curve and the entire base game can be completed in about an hour or two.

Plague Inc. A very nice 5-10 min time waster with the goal of killing all of humanity with a virus. This is a really nice game to play with a video or podcast in the background. I will admit it is a touch repetitive but thats probably fine for a game you are only meant to play a couple time a day.

Bloons TD a bright and colorful tower defense game where you take monkeys and pop balloons just a very solid and smooth game

and the main reason I kinda wanted to start this thread

Balatro is a poker-themed roguelike deck-building game and it kinda has me hooked and because its a paid app there are no ads, no in app purchases just a solid game that has made me forget time a few times

I feel kinda bad for the Gacha brand. There are a few spectacular ones out there worth playing, but the field got so saturated with hacks nickel-and-diming the players for everything at every turn that the genre is now a bad word.

It really came to a head when, of course, EA got involved.

A good Gacha is one that not only has substance but doesn't paywall actual content, and if you spend money you do it because you wanted to, not because you felt like you had to/were manipulated to do so. A couple decent examples are Granblue Fantasy and Arknights.

There are couple of gacha games that I like; it’s just that the few I do like I play as pc games cause I have a 7 year old phone.

Even thought it has all the trappings of in app purchases and yadda yadda I would recommend Dislyte just on character design alone. Take a look at some of these.

► Show Spoiler :

Oh yea, not to sell it too hard the characters basically are influence by gods/deities many of which are animal focused. I can post a few more if anyone wants references

Only gacha games I play rn are Nikke and Yugioh Master Duel (lol).

To me, Nikke has a surprising amount of depth when it comes to team building and has a pretty alright story. That, and I like the designs of the enemies and characters and the events.

I put Master Duel on here cause the way to get cards and build decks relies entirely on luck and pulling from packs. You can craft cards, but a lot of the most important cards to a deck's archetype (or just generic cards that can go in any deck) need the hardest to obtain crafting materials. I've played long enough to have gotten all the cards I could want, but wow did it take a lot of work to make a playable deck.

Wow, most people that I know that have gotten into Majong are Yakuza players(like myself) never thought there thought to search for an app for it.

There are a few more games that I want to mention.

Vampire Survivors is a great game it’s a little pixel intense but my 7 year old phone can handle it.

A classic is Infectonator, and old ‘Armor games’ property. Which is a zombie infecting game with 8bit sprites and a busty news anchor
