Another Balatro fan I take it, have you tried out that Balatro mod? It has double the amount of decks, jokers, challenges it’s quite wacky.
I’ve also been playing the top games of the year. I’m almost done with Metaphor Re:fantazio and after that I’m playing Astrobot
i got a bunch of autism games for myself this winter sale.
voxel tycoon [good, slightly overwhelming, need to spend more time on it]
in heat [fnaf but porn and with fully original shit and is really cool, haven't played yet]
odd realm [REALLY good colony/kingdom builder ala dwarf fortress, wanted to play a bunch but some bugs/my mistakes that i don't know i'm making are preventing me from progressing past a certain point]
i'm still only in my first stellaris run, and understanding how all the systems work in depth is really rewarding. i'm playing as socialists, and any game that lets you do that is good in my book. the worldbuilding, mechanics, roleplaying you can do, all of the freakin mods! you can put ponies in there. it's one of those kinds of games like civ or hoi4 where you can play fantasy or speculative politics, which is fun in an autistic way. it's structured like a board game. a lot of different mechanics are taken after board game cliches like how colonized planets have a limited number of districts, meaning you can't just spam a bunch of mines on there forever. actual resource management. it's one of those games that sucks you in and never lets go. i have seen the face of death and i want more n all that. basically it's pretty sick.
I find myself starting the year with 4 ish games to mess around with. Firstly I'm playing Okami again. The last time I played it was on the ps2 when I was like 5 years old or something like that. I lost the disk half way though the game but I remember loving it a lot. After seeing the game awards announce a new game I figured it was time to finally complete a playthough of it. Been a joy to be back in that world and the doggie vibes. I'm not far atm. I just got the first sword and making my way to the city but I will enjoy slowly going through it.
I am also playing monster hunter rise with my elder brother. I introduced him to world a while back and he got super sucked into the game. We got all the way to fatalis and farmed him for a bit. He's still itching for more as he has gotten to the limit of what world can offer so we are gona see if we can get through Rise Sunbreak before Wilds comes out in two months. I'm normally a GL main but I'm putting myself on a GL fast till wilds is out so for my rise playthough with him I'm learning the lance. And dispite the complaints I remember hearing about Lance in Rise sunbreak with the slaps being stronger than the pokes making it not feel lance-like, I'm still finding it an enjoyable weapon to play with. Evade extender js a must thou!
The other two I just started to play last night. My GF set up a molded MC server with the all the mods 10 pack. Im not used to mods at all for MC so at the moment it's a little intimidating with there being so many new block and menus and overlaping binds that I need to remove and remind. She and a friend have allready made a lot of complex machines and generator and weird crafting blueprint stuff I'm trying to catch up on. It's just a lot. I plan on just focusing on picking new blocks to make a nice house to live in as they both are sleeping on the floor and have no house At all.
And lastly to put the 4 in the 4 games im playing its pikmin 4! Been wanting to play 4 since it came out last year. It was in that 2023 whirlwind of too many game released too close to eachother so I hadn't had the money to get it. I got the game as a Christmas present however so now I can finally put time into enjoying more pikmin. Only on day 4 in that one but it is definitely classic pikmin for me. Though all the unlocks with the dog mount and increasing pikmin on the field so far nice if only so that I'm not spending the first day getting to 100 pikmin to avoid plucking pikmin. I've only had to pluck 20 and then I can go crazy pikmin breeding. Can't wait to spend more time with it
Hopefully I can finish one of these games before Rebirth lands on the PC at the end of the month XD
I think I'm going to start Disco Elysium
Pubby is still mired in Elder Scrolls.
Especially with as modded as she plays Oblivion and Skyrim in particular, these games never end. Daggerfall was already a lifetime investment before the Unity port made modding possible, and now it really is a fantasy life sim.
Been going back to OpenRCT2 lately, completing some of the scenarios and checking out some of the modded objects and such.
Just completed Crater Lake a couple minutes ago, only ended up building on one half of the lake. Notably it has a modded coaster that turns it into a single-person zipline, an Observation Tower that's using the recently added "invisible" paint color to hide the post and make it look like it's flying, and a small burger joint that uses a modded stall that lets you build your own decor around the counter.
Here's a screenshot of another park from a couple years ago that I'm still really proud of:
